If you do have symptoms, questions, are pregnant, immunocompromised, or have had contact with a partner who has tested positive, you should book a Telehealth STI Test. A Specialist GP will speak with you directly and advise on the most appropriate testing and follow-up care.
What does STI testing involve in Darwin?
The testing process usually includes a urine sample and a blood test. If needed, you can also self-collect swabs depending on your sexual activity (oral, vaginal, or anal). There is no requirement to fast beforehand, and the collection process is quick and discreet. Pathology staff will provide instructions if swabs are part of your screen.
When will I receive my STI results in Darwin?
Most results are returned within 2 to 3 days, though it may take slightly longer in remote areas. As soon as your results are ready, they will be sent to you via SMS.
If you receive a positive result, please book an URGENT Telehealth STI Treatment Consult. A Specialist GP will contact you at your chosen time to offer treatment advice, coordinate follow-up testing, and help with partner notification. Prescriptions are issued via eScript and can be filled at pharmacies throughout Darwin and the NT.
