STI testing usually includes providing a urine sample and a blood test. If you’ve had vaginal, oral, or anal sex, you can also request self-collected swabs. There’s no need to fast, and the test itself is quick and simple. If swabs are needed, the collection process will be explained clearly by the pathology nurse.

Most results are available within 2 to 3 days, although some areas may take up to 7 days. We will send your results to you by SMS as soon as they become available.

If you test positive, please book an URGENT Telehealth STI Treatment Consult. A Specialist GP will speak with you at your appointment time to provide advice on treatment, follow-up testing, and notifying sexual partners. Your prescription will be sent via eScript and can be filled at any pharmacy in South Australia or across the country.

Yes. You can access testing in regional towns throughout South Australia, including Mount Gambier, Port Augusta, Whyalla, Port Lincoln, and Murray Bridge. After receiving your referral by SMS, you can attend your local pathology lab for testing at your convenience.

Yes – confidentiality is guaranteed. Your results will not be uploaded to My Health Record unless you request this. You can also choose to be tested privately without using Medicare or private health insurance if you prefer. All testing is handled discreetly by Australian-registered Specialist GPs in full accordance with privacy legislation.

PLEASE NOTE: The pathology tests themselves are bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders with no out-of-pocket cost to you.

If you do not have Medicare, additional pathology fees may apply. However, some private health insurers or OSHC (overseas student health cover) may cover part or all pathology fees. Please check with your insurer for details.
