If you have no symptoms (eg. pain, discharge, irritation, or a rash) and are just looking for a routine check-up, the Online STI Screen is ideal and doesn’t require a consultation.

If you do have symptoms, questions, are pregnant, have a weakened immune system, or have been told a partner tested positive, you should book a Telehealth STI Test. A Specialist GP will speak with you directly to recommend the most suitable tests and next steps.

The test usually involves giving a urine sample and having a blood test. If relevant, you can also perform self-collected swabs from the throat, vagina, or rectum depending on your sexual practices. The collection process is simple, does not require fasting, and you’ll be given clear instructions by the pathology team if any swabs are required.

Results are typically ready within 2 to 3 days, although it may take slightly longer in some areas. We’ll send you your results via SMS as soon as they’re available.

One of our Specialist GPs will call you at the time of your appointment to provide treatment guidance, discuss follow-up testing, and offer partner notification advice. Prescriptions are sent by eScript and can be filled at any local pharmacy across Queensland or nationwide.

Yes. We provide STI testing services throughout Queensland’s major regional centres. After receiving your SMS referral, you can visit your nearest pathology lab in towns like Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, and Mackay. No need to book – just bring your referral and walk in.

Yes – your test, results, and personal information are handled with complete confidentiality. Nothing is uploaded to My Health Record unless you ask to be. If you prefer, you can choose to be tested without Medicare or private insurance to maintain full anonymity. All records are securely managed by Australian-registered Specialist GPs in line with strict privacy regulations.

PLEASE NOTE: The pathology tests themselves are bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders with no out-of-pocket cost to you.

If you do not have Medicare, additional pathology fees may apply. However, some private health insurers or OSHC (overseas student health cover) may cover part or all pathology fees. Please check with your insurer for details.
