If you’re feeling completely well and have no symptoms like burning, discharge, pain, or rash, you can request an Online STI Screen without needing an appointment.

If you have symptoms, questions, are pregnant, immunocompromised, or have recently been informed that a partner tested positive, then it’s best to book a Telehealth STI Test. A Specialist GP will speak with you directly to determine the most appropriate tests and care plan.

STI tests generally include a urine sample and a blood test. Self-collected swabs may also be included if you’ve had vaginal, oral, or anal sex. The process is quick, non-invasive, and doesn’t require fasting. If swabs are needed, you’ll be given easy instructions on how to collect them privately at the pathology clinic.

Most test results are available within 2 to 3 days, although it may take up to 7 days in some cases. We’ll send your results by SMS as soon as they’re available.

If your result is positive, please book an URGENT Telehealth STI Treatment Consult. A Specialist GP will contact you at your booked time to recommend treatment, arrange follow-up testing, and offer partner notification support. Prescriptions are sent electronically via eScript and can be filled at most pharmacies in Canberra or elsewhere in Australia.

Yes. STI testing is accessible throughout the ACT, including outer suburbs such as Tuggeranong, Gungahlin, Belconnen, Weston Creek, and Woden. Once your referral is sent via SMS, you can attend your nearest pathology lab on the same day without the need to make an appointment.

Yes. We also provide STI testing services to surrounding regional towns near the ACT, including Queanbeyan, Yass, Bungendore, Cooma, and Goulburn. You can use your SMS referral at any local pathology lab in these areas – just walk in when ready.

Yes – your STI testing is completely private. Results will not appear on My Health Record unless you choose to have them added. If you prefer, you can be tested anonymously without using Medicare or private health insurance. All test results are securely managed by Australian-registered Specialist GPs, in line with strict national privacy standards.

PLEASE NOTE: The pathology tests themselves are bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders with no out-of-pocket cost to you.

If you do not have Medicare, additional pathology fees may apply. However, some private health insurers or OSHC (overseas student health cover) may cover part or all pathology fees. Please check with your insurer for details.
